Celebrating ten years of Bristol Green Capital Partnership

It’s Bristol Green Capital Partnership’s 10th anniversary, and you can join the celebrations!

Ten years ago, Bristol Green Capital Partnership was founded thanks to the inspiring efforts of pioneers and leaders who recognised that through working collectively, they could affect long-term change and make the city a more sustainable place to live. We are now widely-recognised as the largest partnership of its kind in the world, growing from those initial 12 founding members to over 800 organisations and groups, all pledging to work towards a sustainable Bristol with a high quality of life for all.

The Partnership is just one example of how Bristol does things differently – and its existence is something the whole city should be proud of. This month we are looking back and celebrating the huge contribution made by so many people to the Partnership so far, and also considering what lies ahead in the future. So much has been achieved already, but there is still a huge amount to do.

Mayor Marvin Rees recently highlighted the importance of the Partnership when he said, “I am committed to achieving ambitious sustainability goals, such as ensuring that much more of the city is run on clean energy which does not damage our health or change our climate. The City Council will play its part in achieving this but we need the whole city to play its part. Networks like the Bristol Green Capital Partnership play an important role in enabling a whole city approach and I’m hugely grateful for their hard work, commitment and expertise.”

On 6th July we will be welcoming over 200 people to a special anniversary gathering at At-Bristol. The event is now sold out, but if you have not managed to book a place a video recording will be made available online shortly after the event.

Everyone is invited to join the special anniversary edition of the Green Mingle which takes place after the gathering on 6th July from 6pm at At-Bristol. There will be drinks and nibbles, displays and activities from a variety of local organisations, and the opportunity to make connections with interesting people who share the vision of a sustainable Bristol with a high quality of life for all. There is no need to book and all are welcome.

If your group or organisation is not yet a member of the Partnership, now is a great time to get involved as we look ahead to the next ten years. It’s free to join, and all you need to do fill in the simple form here. And stay up to date with everything that is happening around the anniversary by following #Bristolsfuture on Twitter.

The 10th anniversary celebrations have been made possible by our generous supporters ArupAt-Bristol, Greenhouse PR and Total Produce
