Entrepreneurial Women in Renewable Energy network
12th March 2015
In November 2014, Regen SW launched the Entrepreneurial Women in Renewable Energy (EWiRE) network. There are now over 200 women signed up to the network, and Baroness Verma, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, DECC, will be speaking at the first EWiRE event in Bristol on 13 March 2015. Baroness Verma MP will be speaking about her involvement with Powerful Women in Energy, a professional initiative to showcase female leadership potential in the UK’s energy sector. Alison Kay, global vice chair of Ernst and Young and Julia Groves, CEO of Trillion Fund will also be on the agenda.
The EWiRE network exists to:
- Increase the visibility and profile of women working in sustainable energy at events across England and Wales
- Increase the contribution of women to the Boards of small and medium sized sustainable energy enterprises across England and Wales
- Promote the attractiveness of working in the sustainable energy sector to encourage wider female participation
- Provide increased networking opportunities for women to do business in the sector.
A steering group has been set up consisting of 12 female industry leaders. Regen will run dedicated EWiRE events in 2015, and the first of these will be on Friday 13 March in Bristol. Regen will be actively promoting jobs in the sector including non executive director positions, so if there is a role in your organisation that you would like to promote through Regen’s extensive networks, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more details. Regen will be setting up a mentoring programme – if you are interested in being a mentor, please email email@example.com to register your interest.
