Several years ago, a series of World Cafe conversations resulted in the current Green Capital vision. Much progress has been made, but now there is an even greater need for action. With new understanding and recent changes to global systems, both human and environmental, economic and social, local and national – there is a need to look again at our strategy for a green capital city.

Thinking About Green ICT

Green ICT – 29th November – Aardman Animations                            

Aardman Animation played host to the latest WECC/BGC event last Tuesday (29th). Aimed at highlighting solutions towards lower ICT emissions, we heard from Howard Arnault-Ham (Aardman), Jonathan Tapp (Capgemini), and Chris Priest of the University of Bristol.

The evening gave guests chance to hear about all things green and ICT, with topics such as ‘high density disk arrays’ and ‘video conferencing’ being touched upon. Both Q&A and networking sessions rounded proceedings off. Bristol Fairtrade receive award at the National Conference in Birmingham

Not only does Fairtrade help the very farmers who are feeling the impacts of Climate Change first but Fairtrade standards ensure that environmentally unsustainable practices are avoided. That is why Green Capital is particularly pleased that Bristol has won the Outstanding Achievement Award in this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight Awards.  The award confirms Bristol as the leading Fairtrade City in the UK, with many of our events and activities being replicated by other Fairtrade groups around the world.  Read more…
