A car free haven in the city

Picture of queen square bristolThursday May 17th will be the 20th anniversary of the closure of the A4 dual carriageway through Queen Square. The road, which ran diagonally across the Square to the Harbourside, was initially closed on an ‘experimental’ basis – made permanent 18 months later. The Living Heart for Bristol coalition*, which campaigns for new public space and removal of through traffic in central Bristol, will be organising several initiatives to celebrate the event over the next few weeks: Read more…

Bristol Green Capital – Getting it done

The quarterly meeting of the Bristol Green Capital momentum group focused on

  • overview from the Leader of the Council, Barbara Janke
  • an update regarding the EUGC 2014 shortlisting and
  • discussions around “Future City” projects that have been identified by the group and how they could be progressed. Small group discussion were held to explore the desired outcomes and to define some of the actions. More detail about these projects and how they are progressing is available here.
