After much popular demand, the People’s Supermarket is now ready to recruit a team of volunteers and an Advisory Group to build the foundations for this exciting new venture.

A People’s Supermarket is a community-owned food shop that sells healthy, sustainable food at realistic prices. Prices will be kept realistic through a membership scheme. In return for 10% discount on all their shopping, members contribute, for example, £4 and 4 hours a month. The money generated will cover overheads like rent and utility bills. Almost all staff time will be covered by members volunteering their time. Bingo – we are able to sell food that’s good for everyone at cost price. Read more…
