Bristol’s strong performance in reaching the last three for the next European Green Capital Award was highlighted today by the European Commission.
Publishing their independent technical evaluation of all 18 European cities taking part, the Commission’s experts ranked Bristol second overall, and number one in three areas: climate change, air quality and noise pollution.
For the second time, Bristol is the only city in the UK to have the reached the shortlist for this coveted award.
Alongside the other short-listed cities – Copenhagen and Frankfurt – Bristol will now present its case to a jury of experts in Brussels on 8th June. It will then receive the final verdict on 29 June.
Avon Wildlife Trust’s new community food growing project – Feed Bristol – will soon be open to schools and community groups to spend some time with them discovering the joys of growing food at their lovely site in Stapleton near Stoke Park. Read more…
There is free support and cash available to support local businesses from the Business Link Resource Efficiency Programme. Check out the slideshow here for more information. It can support a range of measures that will bring carbon savings, like investments in lighting and boiler controls. They gave out £1.5 million to businesses in the region last year!
