Stay hydrated on the go with the Refill Bristol App
12th July 2016
Building on the success of ‘Refill Bristol’, City to Sea have partnered with Bristol Water for a summer of events and activities designed to get people hydrating when on the move, for free!
To take part in the city’s free tap-water refill scheme just download a new free map app that will show you where you can top up at over more than 200 participating venues in Bristol, from cafes and restaurants to opticians, dentists and doctor surgeries.
With the network of Refill Stations in place, the focus is now on encouraging people in Bristol to remember to carry a reusable bottle and use it to refill rather than throwing away money on single-use plastic bottled drinks.
For many people the act of remembering to carry a reusable bottle is part of the challenge. To make it easier, Bristol Water has launched a new range of stainless steel bottles at half the price you’ll find online – at just £10. And to make you feel even better about your purchase, £1 will go to WaterAid and £1 will go to City to Sea.
These are available to buy online via www.refillbristol.org.uk or at one of the city events we will be attending with a Refill water bar. To celebrate the launch of the Refill partnership, Bristol Water will be giving away a free bottle to the first 10 people who sign up for the Refill campaign via the app, so what are you waiting for? Visit www.refillbristol.co.uk and register now.
Founder of City to Sea Natalie Fee said: “The Refill Bristol campaign has two main aims; to reduce the numbers of plastic bottles and bottle tops littering our streets and waterways and to help promote money-saving, healthy hydration.”
Bristol Water’s Customer Services Director Ben Newby said: “As a father of three I know how expensive it is to buy bottled water when I’m out with my family, and the environmental costs are huge too. Refill is fantastic, simple idea and we are delighted to be on board helping City to Sea promote it in Bristol.”
Refill Bristol was developed as a Bristol 2015 European Green Capital project, following on from the striking Bristol Whales sculptures in Millennium Square. City to Sea and their partner organisations started signing up businesses to take part. Now for 2016, and with new partner Bristol Water, the campaign aims to make Bristol the first city where carrying and refilling water bottles is the norm.
The new, free map app lists all the Refill venues and shares fun facts and figures to inspire you to stay hydrated, save money and do your bit to fight plastic pollution here in Bristol. Simply visit www.refillbristol.org.uk and save the app to the home screen of your phone for easy access on the go.
