The Big Commuting Challenge kicks off on the 6th of June 2016!

commuter challengeThe Big Commuting Challenge is back for 2016!

Running on the same platform as the previous two years, we hope to build on the success to date and enjoy a really successful 6 weeks of sustainable commuting. There will be a range of weekly challenges with prizes available along with a prize for the most CO2 saved, most calories burnt and top prize for the most car journeys replaced.

What is the Big Commuting Challenge all about?

The aim of the Challenge is to get as many people as possible commuting to work by walking, cycling, motor cycling, using public transport and lift-sharing. You can log your journeys for work too.

Anyone who works in Bristol, North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset or South Gloucestershire can take part.

Its great fun and we’ll be giving out loads of prizes along the way. You can compete on your own or as part of a team. All you have to do is register and then start logging your journeys to get on the leaderboard.

How your business or organisation can get involved…

There are 6 categories for organisations, relating to number of employees, and there will be a £100 donation made to the charity of choice for the overall winners in each category.

The challenge team have been working hard behind the scenes and The Big Commuting Challenge Website is now up and running –

Businesses can now register in advance of the challenge starting; once registered by a team captain within each organisation, individuals can register plus there is the option to set up internal teams for a bit of gentle competition between co-workers! There is also an associated app which enables participating employees to easily log their journeys to and from work, in addition to business related travel.

Last year there was also a real buzz around the message board and some great photos uploaded to the site too!

We have a range of electronic marketing materials available to download directly via the challenge website here:

For new participating organisations, there is also an information sheet outlining how to run a successful challenge
