Black & Green Ambassadors Re-launch
Ujima Radio and Bristol Green Capital Partnership are excited to launch the new chapter of the Black & Green Ambassadors Programme and we invite you to join us at our special event.
The Black & Green Ambassadors is a city-wide programme which celebrates and empowers leadership and engagement from diverse communities for sustainability, social and environmental justice across Bristol and beyond.
The programme piloted in 2016, following Bristol’s year as European Green Capital. Through their work, the inaugural Ambassadors challenged assumptions, inspired action and worked towards ensuring the environmental movement is inclusive and representative of all communities. Earlier in 2020, Ujima Radio and the Bristol Green Capital Partnership secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for a three-year scaling up of the programme, to support nine new Ambassadors and deliver an extensive programme to address environmental inequalities and enable bold and inclusive action towards a more sustainable Bristol.
With three new Ambassadors appointed this year, this launch event will provide an opportunity to meet all the Ambassadors, to learn about the three-year programme, and to celebrate its vision from both a local and an international perspective.
Speakers include Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, and Julian Agyeman, Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University, Boston, and originator of the concept of ‘just sustainabilities’, which explores the intersecting goals of social justice and environmental sustainability.
We hope you can join us as we celebrate this key moment of our ambitious programme.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
