Supporting organisations to decarbonise their fleet
27th June 2022
In June 2022, the Partnership and Bristol City Council organised a One City Fleet Decarbonisation workshop to support institutions in Bristol with large fleets to decarbonise their fleet. With transport one of the biggest contributors to emissions, changing the way organisations manage their transport is a vital part of the city’s 2030 net zero ambitions.
The workshop was attended by representatives from Avon and Somerset Police, Avon Fire and Rescue, Bristol City Council, Bristol Waste, Bristol Water, UHB NHS Trust and University of Bristol, plus Energy Saving Trust, Zedify, and our wonderful host Sara Sloman, Director of Future Fleet at Paythru.
Participants shared their organisation’s experiences and challenges with decarbonising their fleet, with charging infrastructure, cost, and availability of vehicles common issues. There were discussions about the Clean Air Zone, reducing use alongside electrification, cargo bikes and cycling infrastructure and behaviour change.
In small groups we explored solutions to the challenges identified, including ways organisations could work together and share resources.
The tips and advice shared have been compiled into this resource – please share with those who might find it useful.
